An Apartment Complex in Whitefields area, Bangalore witnessed this event. This event was also reported in Bangalore Mirror. The following report is from the publication from Bangalore Mirror.
A former driver and suspected paedophile was arrested after he tried to target a 7-year-old girl a second time at this apartment complex. He had raped the same girl three years ago, but managed to go free after residents of the complex decided not to file a police complaint.
Now that the man is behind bar, the police are also considering booking the office-bearers of the residents’ welfare association of the apartment complex for not informing the police about the accused when he was caught in the act three years ago. The girl’s parents are CEOs of separate companies.
A week ago, the girl was playing on the premises of her apartment complex after school when the same man, who was standing near the parking lot, got her attention and started calling her to come to him. The girl reached out to a resident who was passing by, informing him of his bad intentions.
According to the police, the resident along with others brought the man to the police and it was revealed that this was the same man who had raped the girl three years ago in the parking lot of the complex.
Three years ago, Prajapathi, who worked as a driver for one of the residents, had raped the girl. When the incident came to light, the association held a meeting and all it did was sack him, without even informing the police, said a police officer.
Deputy commissioner of police, Whitefield, M Narayana said: “The girl’s mother filed a complaint and we have arrested the driver, Prajapathi, [a native of Nepal] for rape. He is booked under the POCSO [Protection of Children from Sexual Offences] Act.”
