ADDA is a technology and communication platform on which Associations communicate official information to their Owners and Tenants.
It is every Association’s responsibility to maintain up-to-date contact information of Owners and Tenants, so that emergency information, statutory information and other property information can be communicated to them.
Phone Numbers are one of these Contact information.
TRAI mandates that for a Technology Platform to send messages to Recipients, the recipients must give explicit consent to the technology platform.
This typically happens using a Phone Verification, where an OTP is sent to the recipient.
Such Phone Verification must happen:
- First when you log in to the platform
- Periodically (e.g., once in 6 months) if you are not logging into the platform frequently, but wish to receive messages or calls to your phone number from the Association
Accordingly ADDA Users who don’t frequently log in, may receive periodic emails to verify their phone number as part of this routine compliance.
Please see the TRAI circular in this blog post. You could specifically look for sections that mention “Consent”.
