Sunita has lived in her apartment complex for three years. She’s a professional swimmer, competitive in her younger days, and still trains regularly. When summer arrived this year, she kept hearing the same conversation among moms in the lift, at the clubhouse, in the parking lot. Where do we send the kids for swimming? Holiday classes are expensive. The society pool just sits there.
Sunita thought, I can do this. Free swimming lessons for kids on weekend mornings.
She posted in the society WhatsApp group. One mom replied, saying she would send her kids. That was it. She did not get more replies. Event-related posts like hers often get buried in WhatsApp messages, lost between conversations, and ad-based apps that many societies use these days.
By the time the weekend arrived, only three kids showed up, two of them because their mothers had run into Sunita in the corridor.
The pool was empty, not because nobody wanted free swimming lessons for their kids, but because most people never even saw the message.
Most communities have no real way for residents to organize something together, and ADDA Resident Events solves this. Now, residents can create and host events directly from the app.

What Does the Events Section in ADDA App already offer?
The ADDA App already has a dedicated Events section, where all upcoming community events appear as clean event cards: workshops, celebrations, sports matches, cultural programmes, and more, all in one place.
This means residents don’t have to depend on scattered WhatsApp messages or the society notice board to know what’s happening in their community. Everything is published inside ADDA, in one reliable spot.
Also, all events are viewable in a calendar view where residents can check what’s happening on a specific date, scan weekends, track multiple events on the same day, or plan weeks in advance.
Until now, only community management teams could create these events, but with this new feature, ADDA App now allows residents to post events happening within the society.
Challenges Residents Face When Organising Community Events Without a Dedicated Events space in the Community App
Many resident engagement ideas or classes hosted by residents never get off the ground, not because of a lack of interest, but because it becomes difficult to let everyone know about the event and gather residents’ interests.
When residents try to organize something on their own, three things typically go wrong:
- Event announcements get buried:
A WhatsApp message lasts about 1 minute before it’s pushed down by other conversations. Residents who mute notifications never see it at all. By the time the weekend arrives, only the people who happened to scroll past it even know the event exists.
If a community is using an Ad-supported Community App, then the situation is worse. No resident usually catches the Event updates, hidden between multiple spam banners and notifications.
- Removes the extra burden that is presently with the Association Office / Management Committee
If the MC member who handles events is busy, traveling, or simply overwhelmed with other admin work, many events just don’t get listed in the ADDA App. The resident, trying to organize the event, follows up once, maybe twice. Then they stop asking. The momentum dies quietly.
- Understanding participation in events is a problem:
Without a proper RSVP system, organisers are not able to plan the event well. Do I arrange for ten people or forty? Do I need extra chairs? Nobody knows. They either over-prepare and feel deflated, or show up to find three people in a room meant for thirty.
And if the society runs on a free, ad-supported app, most residents will not even check the app for event notifications.
Key Benefits of Using ADDA Resident Events

ADDA Resident Events gives residents a proper way to organise without depending on anyone else, without fighting the WhatsApp scroll, and without guessing who’s going to show up.
- One clutter-free space for all events
Events posted by residents appear in the same Events module that the community already uses, clean, ad-free, and distraction-free. So that no event gets ignored or missed by interested residents.
- Lesser hassle for the Association Office & Management Committee
Residents are able to publish events themselves, instantly. The idea doesn’t have to sit in someone’s to-do list or wait for an admin to find time. You create it, it goes live, and people see it.
- Real-time RSVP email updates
The event host remains in the know of the residents who have shown interest in the event and have confirmed their participation. No more guessing how many people are coming, you get updates as they happen, so you can plan the space, the supplies, and everything else without any last-minute surprises.
How Residents Can Create Community Events on the ADDA App

It takes about three minutes to create an event in the ADDA app. Here are a few simple steps:
- Go to the ADDA app → Open Events → Tap Create Event
- Enter event details, add images if needed
- Publish an event for everyone in the community
Every resident in your community can now see the event in the Events module, right on the homepage of the ADDA App, and RSVP directly from the app.
How do management committee members benefit when residents can add events?
Management committees already have multiple battles to fight. If residents or cultural committee members are able to create Events themselves and publish them in the ADDA App, it is one less thing they need to worry about. The Community management team doesn’t need to be in the loop for every yoga session or kids’ activity, right?
As a management committee member, if you are wondering what some event is published that is against the overall guidelines of the community, then there’s good news for you, too!
You retain full moderation control. If an event goes against community guidelines, management committee members can review and remove it at any time. But the good news is, for the vast majority of community events, fitness groups, cultural celebrations, hobby clubs, and children’s activities, nothing needs to pass through the management committee members. Residents become more self-sufficient, and the admin team no longer has to manage event posts, RSVPs, or coordination.
What a Real Community Experience Looks Like
Now imagine the same summer, but with ADDA Resident Events already in her community.
Sunita opens the app, taps the + icon in Events, fills in the details, and publishes. The event goes live immediately. Every resident sees it in the Events module. Parents who never caught the WhatsApp message are able to find the events on the ADDA App. RSVPs start coming in, and Sunita is able to plan better for the event.
Saturday morning, the pool isn’t empty. There are kids at the edge, parents watching from the steps, and Sunita in the water, actually teaching.
The idea didn’t get buried this time. It got seen.
That’s what changes when the right tool is in place, not just for Sunita, but for every resident who has something worth sharing with their community.
ADDA Resident Events is live now on the ADDA App. Tap the + icon in the Events module to get started. For any questions, reach out to support@adda.io
